Auditions for The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

afO’s all-ages show for this season is a funny, poignant, creative staging of Kate DiCamillo’s beautiful fable about learning to love. Edward Tulane is a large (and expensive) china rabbit. Voiced in the play by The Musician, Edward begins as a self-centered creature. Then a series of harrowing accidents find him loved, in turn, by an elderly couple, a hobo, and a dying girl. A cast of four brings to life a wide array of characters, including children and a dog. Rated G.
A tour de force for four strong adult character actors (2 M, 2 F) who will create a wide variety male and female characters, from children to elderly people (and a couple of animals!). Ability to play an instrument such as guitar or harmonica would also be ideal. Actors will read cold from the script, and may also be asked to do some pantomime or improv exercises.
Rehearsals will be held at First Missionary Church on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 10:00 PM, beginning March 11, 2019. For more information, contact artistic director Lauren Nichols, firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are no audition scripts available, but auditionees are strongly recommended to prepare by reading the original novel.
