Out of the Box was created as a place to take creative risks—to try new ideas, experiment with fresh forms of storytelling, and welcome a wider range of voices to the stage. With shorter rehearsal schedules and flexible formats, it opens the door for participants of more ages and experience levels to get involved, especially those who may not be able to commit to a full-length production. It’s a space for curiosity, collaboration, and imagination to flourish.

2026 Out of the Box: Real Relevance

Five short dramas–some humorous, some poignant, three of which are world premieres–which are based on Biblical characters (Act One) and Jesus’ parables (Act Two). The theme of the evening is the Bible’s relevance to our daily lives today. The evening will include musical selections, intermission refreshments and opportunities for post-performance discussion.

This year, our five directorial apprentices are using Out of the Box (given its lineup of five original short skits!) as their final projects, giving them hands-on experience and the chance to bring their creative vision to life.
