Out of the Box 2025

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you more about Out of the Box, why we chose to create the program, and what this year’s show looks like.

First, what is it?? 

Out of the Box started as an idea to produce theatre that wouldn’t necessarily need the full-blown theater resources of the PPG ArtsLab (where we mount our Main Stage shows), and it would give us room to experiment with different types of shows, different themes, and involve different people. With a truncated rehearsal timeline, people who might not have the time to dedicate to a full-scale production would still be able to be involved with theatre.

Our first Out of the Box was in February of 2024. We created a format that included music and drama and ran approximately 90 minutes, with a 15 minute intermission (with complimentary refreshments!). Each “act” featured a different one-act show that, since it was February, focused on relationships and different aspects of love. That production was well-received, so we went ahead with plans for a 2025 Out of the Box.

This year’s production follows the same format, but is a completely different show!
