YPF: What you need to know
Who is eligible to enter the Young Playwrights Festival?
Any Greater Fort Wayne area public, private or homeschool kindergartner to high school senior. Student must be enrolled in school by September 1.
Is teacher involvement required?
No. Students can enter on their own and work independently. all for One will offer a one day Writers’ Workshop to provide young playwrights, parents and educators valuable playwriting resources.
What does it cost?
A fee is charged for the one-day writer workshop.
$20 for grades K-5; Workshop hours 9 am – 12 pm
$40 for grades 6-9; Workshop hours 9 am – 3 pm, lunch included – please advise on any food allergies
Discounts for multiple children
50% off each child after first enrollment
Workshop attendance is not required to participate in the Festival, but it is highly recommended as the student will be equipped with tools to write a better play.
What will winning playwrights receive?
Winning playwrights will each receive media coverage, books and other creative supplies, $25-$50 gift cards to Barnes and Noble, and their printed play with special artwork designed for the cover. The top two plays (one in each age division) will be produced and staged by local professionals at the Young Playwrights Gala, May 2023, and the playwrights will receive full scholarships to the next year’s Young Playwright Writer’s Workshop.
What can playwrights expect?
October 8, 2022 – YPF Writer Workshop
November 18, 2022 – First submission deadline (not required)
December 2022 – Receive feedback for revisions
December 19, 2022 – Final submission deadline
February 2023 – Winning plays announced
March7, 2023 – Auditions to cast winning plays
March – May 2023 – Rehearsals of winning plays
May 5 & 6, 2023 – Young Playwrights Festival Gala Performances of winning and runner-up plays
